NORTH TUSTIN – On a Saturday in January, Karl and Satu Immermann were outside with their three children, talking about what to do that evening.

Karl had been working in the yard as the children, ages 6, 5 and 18 months, were playing and riding bicycles.

Suddenly, Karl collapsed. Satu Immermann grabbed his cell phone and dialed 9-1-1 as she started CPR. He was having a heart attack.

"My children were standing next to me, and my daughter was crying and kept screaming, 'Daddy, don't die,' " Immermann said. Suzi Schwartz took Immermann's children into her house as she tried to help her neighbor.

Karl died that day. He was 48.

"She witnessed her husband die in front of her small children," Schwartz said. "She's an unbelievable person to be dealing with what she's dealing with. She's very courageous."
